The ultimate crystals for self-care

The most important relationship is the one you have with yourself

Diane Von Furstenberg

Hands up who hasn’t looked after themselves enough recently? I certainly know I’m guilty of having self-care at the bottom of my to-do list a lot of the time!

But looking after ourselves is so important. When we aren’t looking after ourselves our careers, and our relationships and friendships all suffer. So whether it’s a long soak in the bath with a glass of wine, a walk in the fresh air, or the latest Netflix show, it’s super important to give yourself the time.

It’s not always so easy to know where to start and I’ve found that crystals can provide amazing support when you just need some extra self-love. Here are some of my favourites:

Rose quartz

Rose quartz is associated with love in all its forms including the love of others and super importantly, self-love! It’s also a wonderful crystal for calming the mind and inducing clarity.

Rose quartz is the ultimate support blanket in the crystal world which is why lots of us choose to wear rose quartz at stressful times such as a first date, job interview, or in times of anxiety.

It’s a gentle and loving crystal to support you when you need it most.

Pink aventurine

Aventurine, like rose quartz, is associated with the heart chakra. The heart chakra, located unsurprisingly around our heart, is associated with compassion, empathy, love, and forgiveness. Although all those emotions are those you may initially associate with things you give to others they are absolutely things you also need to give yourself.

Beating yourself up about cancelling plans with friends? You need to forgive yourself for that and not hold onto that self resentment!

Aventurine is also a crystal for growth and expansion so helps you to think outside the box, see where you need to grow, and what you need to let go of.

Smokey quartz

Lots of dark and black crystals, including smokey quartz, have a structure that hangs on to negative energy such as doubt and negative thoughts.

It’s an amazing tool to help absorb your bullsh*t thoughts so that you stop beating yourself up about things.

It’s a really nice crystal to meditate with as it helps to take away those thoughts that creep into your head while you’re not meant to be thinking about anything. I like holding it in one hand, or placing it on my body and focussing on it as I start to meditate.

Dalmatian jasper

Ever had a really horrible feeling in the pit of your stomach? Your stomach is linked to your solar plexus which is related to your feelings, emotions, and nerves. Jasper is a crystal that helps unblock any issues with your emotions and helps you reconnect to yourself.

It’s a lovely protector and brings joy which is something we could all do with some more of. As Marie Kondo would say, let’s spark some joy!

Self-care isn’t selfish

Ready for some self-care now?

Why not use these crystals together while you’re doing something just for you. I’ve packaged these up in my Self-Care Kit, so they’re all ready and waiting for you in one place along with a lovely handmade candle and some sage to use to clear any negativity. Want to know more about candles? I’ve given you some tips on using candles as part of your practice in a recent blog, enjoy!
